NNA Memeber Graduates from TreeKeepers Program
Congratulations CK Johnson who is now an official TreeKeeper. The ceremony took place at the North Park Nature Center on December 10, 2011. The Tree Keeper program is part of the Open Lands project. So far CK has helped to plant at least 30 trees during the past few months!
If anyone else is interested in being certified the next course will begin on March 3rd !!!

Graduates of the program plant and maintain trees on city, park, and forest preserve land. Jerome Scott, district forester for the Chicago Park District, notes, “Tree planting by these volunteers can rival any professional effort.”
TreeKeepers also conduct tree inventories of select Chicago parks to support Chicago Park District planning and management and for use as a reference by TreeKeepers and other volunteers. (For an interactive map relating to this initiative, click here.)
TreeKeepers remain active throughout the year, planting, mulching, pruning, and providing the maintenance necessary for trees to thrive in our urban forest. For more information about TreeKeepers, please contact Jim DeHorn at 312-863-6259.
